How much orijen to feed lab puppy

It is also really easy if you go away to take the exact quantity and it doesn't smell like wet food would. What a great product! You probably pay a bit more than other foods but definitely worth it.

My dogs favorite is the minty ones. I agree with what Polly said I started my Toy Poodle, Walter on Orijen at 11 weeks, after finding this site and comparing the ingredients with the brand his breeder had given me a supply of, and recommended I continued to use.

The food his breeder recommended was a leading brand, and I was shocked to see on your site that the ingredients listed were mostly in red! Walter is now 7 months old and has continued to thrive on Orijen, I am so pleased. He is strong and healthy, has a healthy appetite, is well behaved and calm, his coat is beautiful, and his stools are firm and clean. Orijen is not cheap but worth every penny! Hi Ali - sorry about the confusion. Our guides are based on the figures provided by Orijen but since they are averages calculated for 6 month old puppies according to the puppy's actual weight rather than predicted adult weight they will appear quite different from those on the packaging and they certainly won't apply to all puppies.

They are only really intended for price comparisons and you should always refer to the packaging for the exact recommendations for your puppy. She did eat it but now she seems to hate it! Wont go near the bowl or she sniffs it and lays down.

I have tried different gravy on it still nothing. I have bough Iams puppy and she prefers that but isnt over keen. I dont want to put her on a commercial food but I have no idea what to try now I have bags of food that she just wont eat. HELP I am all so looking for a basset hound forum or group I can get involved in, any recommendations?

Danielle, try a grain free diet! I feed my 4yo Basset Hound with Orijen and she is in top shape! Not only is it high quality but given the choice, she will systematicaly go for Orijen.

Hunting dogs are meat lovers! I can honestly say I wasn't expecting much change in her, but I was wrong. She has an amazing coat which has always been dull Idiot breeder fed her cheap adult dog food her mood is consistent with no crashes, she isn't interested in stealing the cats food anymore and her stools are firm and much smaller. Defiantly worth the price and couldn't ask for a better food for my growing pup Jess.

Also thank you to WhichDogFood for the amazing site. Hi Lozz - sorry about the problems voting on your mobile. I'm guessing from your previous post that you'd prefer to give Orijen Puppy 5 stars so I've updated your vote for you. I started feeding Orijen to my puppy about 2 months ago and I must say, it's brilliant! When I first got my puppy, he was being fed Royal Canin by the breeder but tended to itch himself a lot and also chew his paws excessively.

I decided to try a grain free food and did some research. Orijen, through a lot if feedback, looked the best. Luckily, my local independent pet store stocks it :o The change in my puppy has been amazing! He no longer itches as much and he has not chewed his paws since the food change. It's not that expensive in the long run as I bought a 13kg bag two months ago and I still have half the bag to go before I have to buy more :o I've also tried him on Fish4Dogs, which he was not interested in at all despite the smell and Eden, which he completely turned his nose up at I can not recommend Orijen enough!

Even my vet complemented his body condition and shiny coat puppy is broken-coated so that truly is astonishing. The piece of mind an owner gets through feeding top-quality food like Orijen is also second to none.

My puppy adores it and is always super excited at meal times. A bag lasts a long time and it is super healthy! What more could a dog owner want in a food? My Old English Sheepdog suffered from flatulence and loose stools with both Orijen and Eden, but fares much much better with Ziwipeak air-dried. Her taste preferences are Ziwipeak, Origen and the Eden in that order. The flatulence with Eden was worse than Origen, but the loose stools worse with the latter. Her taste preference is for Natural Instinct which I also prefer for her as a raw food, but when travelling etc.

She transitions to it quite easily. In my experience it is superior to any of the former dried foods. I would no longer recommend a dry dog food made from dehydrated meat ingredients, such as Orijen and Eden and I am not convinced that ingredients like lentils, pea fibre and chickpeas are such a good idea either.

I couldn't agree with you more. My dog is healthy and happy on Ziwipeak. He was quite ill on Orijen. I read the last comment so have to tell of my experience with my 10 month old Border Collie who has thrived on Orijen Puppy and Orijen 6Fish since changing from another brand about 6 months ago. My knowledge of these products after owning dogs for 30 years is exclusively due to Whichdogfood as I hadn't heard of either of these companies before.

About 9 out of 10 people we meet comment on the condition of my dog's coat and his stools are clean, small and neat to clear up. I have also used Eden in the last few months to ring the changes and also find it very good but dog seems to prefer the taste of Orijen.

In my experience both Orijen and Eden are top quality products and the original outlay of the purchase price works out much cheaper than expected in the long run. Love these - well In general, unless your dog has health issues, you probably won't have to worry about these figures. Click here for more information. Think of the 'mixing bowl' composition like a recipe - all the ingredients you would need to put in a 'mixing bowl' in order to make the food. Ingredients have to be listed in descending order of their weight so the higher it appears, the more there is.

Ingredients that we believe to be controversial or inferior are highlighted in yellow with particularly low grade, highly contentious or excessively vague ingredients in red. Information in italics is not usually avaialble on the ingredients list but has been provided to us by the manufacturer to help with our ratings. While the 'mixing bowl' composition is useful for knowing what went into the food, it doesn't always reflect what your dog is actually eating.

This is because the processes that turn the ingredients into the finished pet food can significantly alter the relative weights of the ingredients. For this reason we've calculated the approximate 'as fed' percentages for the main ingredient categories in the finished product. Please note that these figures are very approximate. They are estimates based on the information provided by the manufacturer in the ingredients list so the clearer the terminology and the more percentages they provide, the more accurate our estimates will be.

Wherever information is lacking, we always assume the worst. I don't want to accidentally overfeed as I did that yesterday and he was throwing up his meals undigested or partially , likewise I don't want to underfeed him.

Also, are Labs in the Golden Retriever category? Joined: Sep 13, Messages: I would put Labs at the Golden Retriever weight, yes. Possibly they leave it as a fairly general guide so you can tailor it to your specific dog, but I wonder whether sone people would then leave their dog on the 10 Kg ration until it is actually 20 kg, which seems daft.

Surely a 10 Kg dog and a 19 Kg dog are going to need different amounts? Trufflepup , Oct 1, Stacia likes this. As edzbird says. It is very important to feed a puppy and indeed a dog on how they look, not keep to the packet instructions. Don't forget a pup is growing and increase the amount, again to how the pup looks. Stacia , Oct 1, These guides always seem wonky to me anyway.

I rarely fed kibble it's kind of emergency only food for me but the recommended amounts on the packaging always seemed massive.
